Upper Deck's retro multi-sport brand hits the collecting world for a second year via 2022 Skybox Metal Universe Champions. Featured sports include baseball, basketball, boxing, football, golf, hockey, MMA, soccer, and tennis.

Arena Design, the team behind 1997-98 Metal Universe Basketball, is back to handle the throwback stylings.

Hobby boxes should contain at least one autograph, Precious Metal Gems card or Skybox parallel (from Skybox Premium, 1998-99 Retro Star Rubies or Z-Force).

The main card lineup in the 2022 Skybox Metal Universe Champions checklist offers 100 base cards and 50 high-series Metal Shredders (#101-150) cards, which are a new addition.

The Aqua and Silver Dots (#/299) parallels are only in Blasters.

Of course, the popular Precious Metal Gems (PMG) parallels are back in several colors.

UD also pays tribute to the past with another round of 1997-98 Retro Precious Metal Gems. The classic PMG set totals 100 copies per card, with the first 10 being green and the final 90 being red.

From there, 2022 Skybox Metal Universe Champions caters to die-cut card fans with the all-new Looking to the Future (1:12 packs). These combine with A Cut Above (1:19 packs) to average two per Hobby box.
