While it can be hard to narrow down the exact genre of the cardboard inside, 2022 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions is a wide-reaching card set with a little something for everyone.

Featuring animals and athletes alongside history and artwork, Goodwin Champions does not really have any limits to its collecting scope.

Like last year, Hobby boxes average at least two hits.

2022 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions Base / Inserts

Up first, 2022 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions has 100 cards in the base set with another 50 cards coming as Splash of Color SPs (#101-150; 1:7 packs). There are also one-of-one Printing Plates.

Returning for a second release, the Chrome-like Platinum variants, featuring the Goodwin, Goudey and Splash of Color designs, average 1:7 packs.

In addition to larger print runs for Orange Prism (#/499) and Cosmic (#/199), new chromium parallels include Green Rainbow (1:120 packs), Ocean (#/75) and Chameleon (#/49).

Another staple, the Goodwin Playing Cards set features the full run of clubs, diamonds, hearts, and spades, with 2s to Ks averaging 1:14 packs and the Ace SP falling at a rate of 1:334 packs.

Other inserts include 2022 Exquisite Collection base (#/99) and rookies (#/99) with Gold Spectrum (#/10) and Black (1/1) parallels.

UD left off multiple things from the checklist as part of their unannounced "Easter Egg" cards. This includes Base Blank Backs, Base Nickname Variations, Base Splash of Color Black & White parallels and new Fanimation inserts.

Supplying a large assortment of styles, the 2022 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions checklist offers many autographs. Look for hard-signed Goodwin Autographs (1:60 packs) cards, including horizontal (1:640 packs) and inscribed (1:3,000 packs) versions.

As usual, the UD product also pays tribute to past designs. These have on-card signatures, as well, including 2000 SP Authentic Future Watch (#/299).

Pushing into other hits, 2022 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions boasts memorabilia, manufactured relics and hand-drawn artwork.

Among the possibilities, the Lincoln Memorial Dedication Coin Relics (#/22) set honors the 100th anniversary of the Washington, D.C. monument.

On top of that, the Map Relics line is back to showcase map pieces of various national parks.

Moving to the artwork, hand-drawn sketch cards include Goodwin Masterpieces Athletes (#/10), Goodwin Masterpieces Animal Kingdom (#/10), and Goodwin Portraits Original Art (1/1; 90 cards).

Issued via redemption, the Entomology Oversized Relic (5" x 7") cards showcase more than 10 species of bugs, including the Green Scarab Beetle and Ulysses Butterfly, in a 660-point shadowbox design.
